when stuff started getting exciting...

it was at about 5 weeks that salem started being a little more interactive. we'd get an occasional smile that seemed to be unrelated to gas and more about an emotional response. he rolled from his stomach to his back more than once but i'm still not convinced it was on purpose.

5 weeks...

at 5.5 weeks salem and i had our longest period of separation when steve and i took my dad to the royals/cardinals game one saturday afternoon. my mom watched salem and this momma enjoyed some beers!

6 weeks....

the first time i caught the smile on camera! yay!

the night salem turned 6 weeks old, steve and i had our first overnight without him to celebrate my 32nd birthday. we had a free room at ameristar and my parents eagerly agreed to keep him for us. it was hard to be  away but so good for us. man was i happy to hug and kiss him the next morning through.  i welcome the little breaks but i am addicted to my baby.

1 month pictures

our friend joe agreed to take 1 month pictures for us... he is very talented and starting his own photography business so if you are interested, let me know and i'll get you his contact info! he has a great eye.

those of you that know stephen should not be surprised to see props....

such attitude already. check out that finger.

mother's day

my first mother's day was when salem was 3.5 weeks old. i was finally starting to recover a bit from my wound infection but still look slightly out of it. anyway, here are some pictures my mom took of me and salem that evening. we celebrated mother's day and my youngest nephew's 3rd birthday over at my sister's house.

growing before our eyes.

since i don't seem to have the time or energy to give a play by play of my son's life the way i thought i would... i'll just share pictures and tidbits when i can. he is growing before our eyes. it is hard to believe he'll be 11 weeks tomorrow!
